Preliminary Exam Marks Distribution 2023
The authority of Bangladesh Public Service Commission(BPSC) has been changed preliminary exam marks distribution. In previews, the preliminary exam was held in about 100 marks. Now it is held on 200 marks. Preliminary exam marks distribution for all cadre is given below.

BCS preliminary examination is a screening test conducted on the following pattern. One mark for each correct answer, but deduction of 0.5 mark for each wrong answer.
Written Exam Mark Distribution
The written exam mark is different by cadre category. The minimum average qualifying marks shall be 50%. If you’re securing less than 30% marks in any subject shall be deemed to have secured no marks in that subject. BCS written exam mark distribution is following this rule now.
For General Cadre:
BCS written exam mark is 1100 for the general cadre. Here we have given mark distribution by subject wise.

For Technical Cadre: BCS written exam result will be held on by three cadre. The candidates of Technical cadre are given written exam by the following mark distribution.

If you apply for both cadre: Compulsory subjects of general cadre and two post related subjects.
Viva Vice Exam Mark Distribution:
Every successful candidate after the written examination shall be interviewed by a board to be constituted by the commission in this behalf. The minimum qualifying marks for the viva is 50%. The final merit list is prepared on the basis of written and viva marks of the successful candidates.
Quota Distribution for BCS Examination: The quota is distributed on the basis of final merit list. The quota reserved for matching the choice of the candidates and the availability of the posts. Percentage of Quota distribution are given below.
- Merit—–45%
- Quota—55%.
- Freedom fighters or daughters/sons of freedom fighters or grandchild of freedom fighters—30%.
- Female——–10%.
- Tribal———5%.
- District Quota——–10%.
BCS Preliminary Written Viva Marks Distribution
BCS preliminary and written exam are held in the division of Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Sylhet and Rangpur. But the viva exam is held on only Dhaka division. Marks distribution doesn’t affect on your result. But it is important to know the qualifying number of every examination.
You should be followed their written examination syllabus. This syllabus provides you correct exam marks distribution according to subject. As you know that marks distribution are not changed every year. So, it is fixed for many years. If the authority make any change of these marks, then we are including it here.
